
ATTRACTIONS
Home of the "Theatre in the Wood", with picnic facilities and four nature trails available for the study of wildlife and plants. A lovely wildflower garden blossoms during the spring and summer. A large parking area, restrooms, and beautiful surroundings are yours to visit. Many events are held at this park during the summer, with a number of these becoming an annual tradition. Plays are presented throughout the year and concerts are held on the grounds at various times. Located two miles north of Highway 29 on County Trunk H.
Navarino Nature Center
(NNC) is located 10 miles south of Shawano in the Navarino Wildlife Area
(WDNR). The nature center building features exhibits, a meeting room,
classroom, and is open
Monday from 1 pm to 4:30 pm, Tuesday thru Friday from
8 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday from
8 am to 3 pm, and Weekend Lobby hours from
8 am to 5 pm.
Special events are offered seasonally free to the public. NNC
maintains
14 miles of hiking trails for use from Spring thru Fall, for hiking,
bird watching, and nature exploring. These trails are groomed for
cross-country

SHAWANO AREA SKI SHARKS
One of the coolest ways to enjoy yourself on a hot Wednesday evening in the summertime in Shawano is to find a comfortable spot along the shore of the Wolf River (by the hospital) and let the Shawano Area Ski Sharks entertain you.
The Ski Sharks perform
weekly from mid-June through mid-August at the Wolf River Beach behind
the Shawano Medical Center. Many courageous stunts are performed, from
helicopters to double crisscrosses under other jumpers on the
ski-jumping team. The swivel skiers are the graceful acrobats you see
turning and swerving along the river. And the pyramid, one of the most
photographed and precise acts you will see on the water, is one of the
Shawano Ski Shark’s specialties.
Shawano County Expo Center
A multi-purpose Expo
Center for the Shawano Hockey League, Shawano Horse-Key Committee, and
many other activities during the year is located on Waukechon Street,
Shawano. This facility is open to the Shawano 4-H and Shawano Horse-Key
Committee during the summer and the Shawano Hockey League and open ice

SHAWANO FLEA MARKET
The Shawano
Flea Market is at the Shawano County Fairgrounds
located at 990 East Green Bay Street, Shawano. Open every Sunday from
April till the end of October from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (except
for the Fair-Labor Day weekend). There is a special two-day flea market
on Memorial Day Weekend and a massive sale over the 4th of
July.
The market is especially well known for it’s wide variety of antiques

SHAWANO MAIN STREET STATUES
In the fall of 1990, 21st Century Genetics (now CRI/Genex) donated the first Sprit of Shawano sculpture at the corner of Main and Green Bay Streets to commemorate their 50th anniversary. The area logging industry donated the second sculpture depicting the history and importance of the logging industry in the area. Contributors of the second sculpture were Weber Veneer & Plywood, Timbco, Shawano Paper Mill and Tigerton Lumber Company. The sculptor of the two statues was Lyndon Pomeroy of Billings, Montana.
To the residents of this area, these sculptures serve as a reminder of our heritage and are encouraging symbols of the accomplishments made through dedication and hard work.
Attention all race fans! Saturday nights from April to September come and watch IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Shawano Sportsman, and WISSOTA Late Models race around Shawano Speedway’s dirt track. PARKS
Cecil Lions Park
Just off Highway 22, featuring a baseball diamond, at which the Cecil Mudhen’s play through the summer months. It also has picnic and playground areas and 2 shelters. One is available for rent for your family get-togethers.
Cecil Sunset Park
Located 3 miles north of Bonduel on Highway K & 22 or seven miles east of Shawano on Highway 22. Cecil Sunset Park has camping available from May through September. A public swimming beach with changing house/restrooms, picnic area, playground, basketball court, boat launch and fishing pier.
Embarrass River Park
Not limited to ATV use, the park also provides a variety of camping accommodations, with water and electricity available and shower facilities.
Visitors will have the opportunity to picnic, use the playground equipment and walk the nature trail. The Embarrass River, which runs through the park, is great for fishing, rafting, tubing and kayaking. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and the rapids on the river.
Hayman Falls
Thirty acres of scenic, wooded trails along the rugged riverbank of the Embarrass River plus an additional forty acres suitable for hiking. Park has a shelter house, grills, rest room facilities, playground equipment and a fresh water well. Take County Trunk M west of Shawano through Pella 1 mile then south ½ mile--follow the signs.
Homme Home
One mile north of Wittenberg on Highway 45 this twelve acre site contains a picnic area, rest rooms, swimming, and fishing.
Kuckuck Park
Enjoy the view of the scenic Wolf River from the picnic area or playground of this City Park. The shelter will protect you from the hot sun or sudden rain shower.
Maple Lane/County Farm
Located two miles south of Shawano on Highway 22. During the winter months the sledding hill offers lots of excitement for the old and young alike.
Mielke Park
The Mielke Park located near the west end of Shawano Lake on County HHH has many walking trails for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Picnic tables, grills, new playground equipment, and rest rooms are available.
Memorial Athletic Field
Memorial Athletic Field is probably the most easily recognized, with the Army tank at the southwest corner of the park. Located along the East Side of Main Street between Elizabeth Street and Lieg Avenue, one can find activities all year long. Several of the shelters and out-buildings are equipped with modern restrooms and most of the larger activity areas are lighted. Three softball diamonds, four lighted tennis courts, a lighted basketball court, horseshoe pits, picnic and playground areas and much more occupy this 17 acre park. A children’s wading pool is open in the summer and during the winter months the park has an ice skating rink.
Shawano Lake County Park
Located on the north shore of Shawano Lake, this thirty-acre park is divided into two areas. An attractively wooded area features 90 campsites on approximately 18 acres. Electricity, showers, play equipment, roller skating rink, camp store, fish cleaning facilities, and a dump station are some of the features. The rest of the park includes a large picnic area, tennis and basketball courts, softball area, volleyball court, and restrooms. A 300-foot sand beach is one of the more popular summer attractions at the park. Boat launching is available at this site on County Highway H.
Sunset Island
At the end of North Franklin Street in the city of Shawano is a lovely three acre park situated on the Channel of the Wolf River which leads to Shawano Lake. A boat dock, picnic shelter, rest rooms and grills with handicapped accessible fishing piers are available at this location.
Waukechon Riverside Park
This sixty-eight acre park is 6 miles south of Shawano just west of the intersection of County K and County CCC. A wildlife area, boat landing, launching dock, picnic tables, fishing dock, and grills are available at this location on the Wolf River.
Wilson Lake-Voelz Park
This quiet 40-acre park is located on the western edge of Shawano County, just two miles west of Wittenberg on Nightingale Rd. A picnic area, grills, bath house and swimming area, rest rooms, playground equipment and shelter house make this an excellent all day getaway. Also, ski trails are available during the winter months.
Wolf River Beach
Public beach along the Wolf River Beach in the Shawano area with restrooms, and a changing room with showers is open to the public.
RECREATION
The Embarrass River ATV Park is a 580 acre park in Tigerton that has been developed as a multi-purpose park with emphasis on ATV trails. With about 20 miles of trails, this park offers terrific ATV trails with the "Riverside Challenge Area" giving riders the opportunity to test their skills on speed, jumps and turns. AND WIOUWASH STATE TRAILS
The Mountain Bay Trail is 83 miles of former railroad corridor which stretches from Green Bay to Wausau. The Shawano Country Portion contains 51 miles which extends from the Village of Pulaski to the Village of Eland, and is designed for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. During the winter months the trail is used for snowmobiling and ATV use.
The WIOUWASH State Trail intersects with the Mountain Bay Trail in the Village of Eland. The Shawano Country portion contains 23 miles which extends from Split Rock to the Village of Aniwa.

SNOWMOBILING
More than 300 miles of groomed and marked snowmobile trails make Shawano Country a snowmobiler’s paradise. Scenic trails wind through majestic forests and scenic meadows, offering hours of snowmobiling pleasure. ATV’s can also be used on most of the snowmobile trails as long as the temperature is less than 28 degrees. WATERSPORTSBOATING
Shawano Country, with its many lakes, rivers and streams provides water for all types of boating. Shawano Lake, the largest lake in the county with 6063 acres of water, is available for all types of boating. For the sailing enthusiast that wants to sail through a lazy afternoon, or the motor boat enthusiast that wants to pull several water skiers, Shawano Lake has the space for everybody to enjoy the fun of boating. Don't worry if you don’t have your own boat or jet ski, the local marinas have rental units available for your enjoyment!
CANOE & KAYAK WHITE WATER
Shawano Country is blessed with a white water playground. The Red River near Gresham is enjoyed by kayakers, white water rafters and canoeists alike. The section of the Red River from the Gresham dam to Ziemer’s Falls, or Red River landing a ½ mile beyond that, is popular with the whitewater set.
FISHING
Shawano Lake is Shawano Country’s largest lake with an area of 6,063 and is one of the top fishing lakes in the State of Wisconsin featuring Muskie, Northern, Walleye, Crappie, Perch, and Rock Bass. RIVER RAFTING
White water rafts and orange life jackets make a day on the Wolf River more fun than a roller coaster ride. Rafting means a good soaking and a lot of yelling as you go through the rapids. A number of rafting outfitters are located within a 45-minute drive from the City of Shawano.
